CRES Works in Progress Event, which will take place on Wednesday May 5, 1-3PM PST.
This year we will hear presentations by CRES Core Faculty Neel Ahuja and CRES DE Dana Ahern. Neel will share a work in progress titled "Managing Flow: Race, Design, and the Question of Access in COVID-19 Research on Airborne Transmission," and Dana Ahern will share a work in progress titled "Dangerous If Left Untreated: Transgender medicine and constructions of health."
Neel Ahuja is associate professor of Feminist Studies and a core faculty member of the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Program. Ahuja is the author of Bioinsecurities: Disease Interventions, Empire, and the Government of Species (2016) and Planetary Specters: Race, Migration, and Climate Change in the Twenty-First Century (forthcoming/2021).
Dana Ahern is a doctoral candidate in Feminist Studies with a DE in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. Ahern is currently finishing a dissertation project exploring the co-constitutive relationships of transgender studies, queer activism, and the medical industrial complex. Ahern's research interests include trans of color critique, queer theory, and feminist science and technology studies.
