Rhode Island College is seeking to fill two tenure-track faculty positions.Rhode Island College is a mid-sized institution of about 6400 students located in a suburban setting in Providence. We service a diverse student population with over 40% of the undergraduates are students of color and over 45% are the first in their family to attend college. Recently, RIC was federally designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). We seek candidates whose background, teaching interests, and research agenda will help foster diversity with the College. The Department of Biology offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Health Sciences, and Medical Imaging as well as a minor in biology. We also have a graduate program offering a M. A. and a Certificate of Graduate Study. In addition, the Biology Department provides courses taken by students in other programs across the campus, such as Nursing and Education. Faculty within the Biology Department have the potential to access state-wide funding opportunities: RI-EPSCOR and RI-INBRE. As a small state in New England, Rhode Island has much to offer with proximity to beaches, wooded areas, and the cultural and academic resources found in Providence and nearby Boston and New York.
One position is for a coastal ecologist/marine biologist while the other position calls for someone with training in anatomy and/or physiology. Although the successful candidate is expected to develop a research program involving undergraduates and Master’s students, the primary focus of this position is education.
