Apply to the Bay Area Nucleate Activator
Applications are open for the 2024 Activator cohort (Deadline 10/15). Every year, Nucleate helps academics transform research findings into biotech companies. This year we've expanded to include an Eco-track to support startups that are focused on the environment. In addition to UCSC, the Bay Area Chapter includes Stanford, UCB, UCSF, and UCD, and involvement with Nucleate is a great opportunity to network with entrepreneurial academics from nearby. To learn more, register for the UCSC info session at the Engineering Courtyard (outside of E-2) on 9/28 from 4-7 pm.

About Nucleate
Nucleate is a student-run nonprofit organization that facilitates the formation of new life science ventures [see our stories in STAT and Endpoints]. Our equity-free Activator program supports companies that tackle the biggest challenges in human health (Bio Track) and sustainability (Eco Track). The program connects scientific trainees and business students with a world-class advisor network of startup founders, executives, venture investors, and renowned scientists.

Strong Track Record
Over four years, Nucleate has supported 107 venture teams through our Activator program. Our alumni have gone on to raise over $170M in funding to develop technologies like protein sequencing (Glyphic), drug design (Manifold Bio), microbiome- (Concerto) and RNA-based (NextRNA) therapeutics, microbial fertilizer (Ivu Biologics) and biomanufacturing (FarmForward).
