Thursday, October 3rd Deadline To Apply For Degree
If you plan to complete your MS or PhD this quarter (Fall 2024), the degree application needs to be submitted to BE Graduate Advising office. This is also the deadline to pay for filing fee, if applicable. More guidelines for graduating are available on the Graduate Advising website.
Thursday, October 10th Graduate Student Enrollment & Fee Payment
If you have not paid your registration fees or enrolled in the minimum number of courses by this date, you will be charged a $50 late fee. Please keep in mind that pending aid (Fellowship, GSR, TA) will not credit your account until you are enrolled in at least 5 units.
Thursday, October 10th Graduate Student Part-Time Status
This is the deadline to apply for reduced course load and fees. Part-time status forms must be approved/signed by your faculty advisor and submitted to the BE Graduate Advising office by the posted deadline. Part-time application forms are available on the Graduate Division's website.
Wednesday, October 16th Deadline to Add/Drop/Swap Courses
This is your last day to add, drop and swap courses. You will not be able to drop or withdraw from courses after this deadline has passed. If you are enrolled in a placeholder class, you MUST drop it by this deadline. More information on how to add, drop, and swap classes is available on the registrar website.
Thursday, October 17th Late Add with Fee Deadline
The Add by Petition form requires the signatures of both the instructor and the department adviser and needs to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
Sunday, December 1st Grade Option
This is your last day to change your grading option for any courses you are enrolled in.
IMPORTANT: The system defaults to Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading. Instructions for how to change your grading option to letter grades (ABC) can be found here.
Stanford PRISM Applications Now Open!
Are you considering continuing your training as a postdoc? Applications are now open for Stanford PRISM. PRISM is for graduate students from any field hoping to explore postdoctoral training at Stanford. PRISM candidates visit Stanford's campus to meet with faculty and current postdocs to consider whether Stanford is a good fit for their next step. Deadline August 20, 2024. UC Computing Scholars Summer Excellence Jumpstart Program is Hiring!
Now Hiring 2 Graduate Students for Summer 2024!
The UC Computing Transfer Scholars Undergraduate Program is coordinating a 7-day summer experience for a cohort of Fall 2024 computing transfer undergraduate students. They are looking to hire two current engineering graduate students as instructional assistants to help with this summer 2024 program. The 2 graduate instructional assistants will help organize and facilitate educational sessions with faculty for our cohort of 40 students of undergraduate computer science and engineering transfer students. (Deadline: Friday August 16, 2024)

The Joint Genome Institute (JGI) is holding their Annual Genomics of Energy & Environment Meeting Sept. 30th –Oct. 4th at the Walnut Creek Marriott in California.
Their Annual Meeting highlights how JGI infrastructure offered through their User Programs — DNA sequencing, synthesis, metabolomics, data analysis, and new technology developments — advances research goals.
Abstracts are due Aug. 31st to be considered for a short talk during our Annual Genomics of Energy & Environment Meeting. The abstract submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, August 31st. Your registration confirmation email includes a link to submit an abstract.
