We are now accepting applications for the following 2021-22 PhD fellowships:
- Jack Baskin & Peggy Downes Baskin Fellowship (One Fellowship Available): This award is based on academic merit and designed to enable an engineering PhD candidate to make swifter progress on their dissertation research. This academic year-long fellowship provides a stipend of $26,100 plus in-state tuition remission. Non-resident tuition is not included.
To be eligible for the award, a student must:
- Have completed all PhD coursework (at the time of application).
- Be within normative time and in good academic standing.
- President's Dissertation-Year Fellowship (One Fellowship Available): The Presidential DYF is based on both academic merit and diversity criteria: the academic achievement of the nominee, the potential for success in academia, and the extent the nominee contributes to the diversity among doctoral degree recipients in the division. To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident and MUST be in a position to complete the dissertation by June 2022. It is required that all nominees be advanced to candidacy as of Spring 2020. This academic year-long fellowship provides a stipend of $24,000 plus payment of resident tuition for the academic year. Non-resident tuition is not included.
- Chancellor's Dissertation-Year Fellowship (One Fellowship Available): All PhD students regardless of citizenship are eligible for this fellowship. This award is based on academic merit. The nominee MUST be in a position to complete the dissertation by June 2022. It is required that all nominees be advanced to candidacy as of Spring 2020. This academic year-long fellowship provides a stipend of $24,000 plus payment of resident tuition for the academic year. Non-resident tuition is not included.
- BSOE Dissertation-Year Fellowship (Four Fellowships Available): All PhD students regardless of citizenship are eligible for this fellowship. This award is based on academic merit. The nominee MUST be in a position to complete the dissertation by June 2022. It is required that all nominees be advanced to candidacy as of Spring 2020. These academic year-long fellowships provide a stipend of $24,000 plus payment of resident tuition for the academic year. Non-resident tuition is not included.
A Letter of Support from your faculty advisor is required. Note - once you complete the online application your faculty advisor will receive an auto-generated message with instructions for submitting their letter of support to the Graduate Advising Office. However, you should notify your faculty advisor ahead of time that you are applying as they only have one week to submit the letter.

Timeline for Review
March 26, 2021 - Deadline for faculty advisors to submit the required letter of support for their advisee.
April 2, 2021 - Deadline for Graduate Director/Department to submit final nominations (one Presidents, one Chancellors, and two BSOE).
